Linear Guideways
In an effort to meet customers' requirement and service needs, Kunix offers several different types of guides. Linear motion guideways, often referred to simply as "linear guides" or "linear rails," are mechanical components used in machinery and automation equipment.
Linear motion guideways consist of two main components: linear guide and linear block. We can pronounce this as rail and block or guide and carriage. A rail is a long, narrow, and usually straight piece that serves as the guiding surface. A block is a component that moves along the rail, is guided by it, and usually supports the load that needs to be moved linearly. LM blocks are often equipped with rolling elements such as ball bearings or rollers to reduce friction and enable smooth motion.
The key advantages of linear motion guideways include:
- Precision: Linear guideways offer high precision and repeatability in motion control, making them suitable for applications requiring accurate positioning.
- Stiffness: They typically provide high stiffness, ensuring minimal deflection even under heavy loads. This stiffness contributes to the stability and accuracy of the system.
- Smooth motion: The use of rolling elements reduces friction, resulting in smooth and quiet motion. This characteristic is particularly important in applications where noise and vibration need to be minimized.
- High load capacity: Linear motion guideways can often handle significant loads while maintaining smooth motion and high precision.
- Durability: When properly maintained, linear guideways can have a long service life, making them suitable for demanding industrial applications.
